The Times of India reported that a 21-year-old youth in
Madhya Pradesh is in jail for the last five months, because the WhatsApp
message has been forwarded by someone else. According to his family, he is
suffering as the actual WHATSAPP Group Administrator ends as 'default
administrator' after leaving the group.
Police said that they acted as evidence against the
accused. The accused is a BSC student and was arrested on 14th February this
year. He was booked under the IT Act and IPC Section 124A, which was related to
sedition.
This case is a perfect example of why people need to move
them out of their whatsapp groups and remove them.
When you exit a group and do not delete it, you can’t
receive or send messages to that group. However, chat history remains in
whatsapp.
On the other hand, if you delete group chat after exiting
the group, then the complete history of group chat will be erased.
It is recommended that if you are not using Whatsapp
group now, you should get out of the group and then delete the chat from
WhatsApp, because after the actual admin leaves WhatsApp, chooses the any member
randomly as a group administrator. It happened with the 21-year-old Madhya
Pradesh, who was sent to jail because the actual administrator of the group
chose to leave the group as the 'default administrator'.
Getting out of a group and removing it from your phone
can protect you from such incidents. It will also remove the clutter from your
Whatsapp app and save storage space.
